From 2021 to 2023, I served as CTO of an organization combining a software product with a professional-services practice.
Context #
Product and consulting could share architecture, security and quality standards, but they did not have the same backlog, economics, deadlines or risk exposure.
My responsibility #
I owned strategy, architecture, processes and standards, connecting product and customer needs with decisions across security, cloud, data governance, data warehousing and data lakes.
Operating judgment #
- Share architecture, security and quality mechanisms.
- Separate commitments, capacity and priorities across product and services.
- Translate commercial and customer needs into technical roadmaps.
- Make trade-offs visible instead of hiding them inside one backlog.
Defensible outcome #
The experience established an operating approach connecting strategy, architecture and delivery across two different models of work.
Limits #
This is a leadership experience, not a customer case or a quantitative outcome claim. Team size, budget, portfolio, customers and metrics remain unpublished until reconciled with the source CV.
